How to choose preform weight

Soft drinks, water and oil each have different needs. A lighter preform is not always a saving.
A soft drink bottle must withstand internal pressure, so it needs a heavier preform than water at the same volume.
Cutting weight saves resin, but filling line speed and strength in transport have to be checked.
